Where to find ordinance call log & what information to provide guest with
The Importance Of Ordinance Calls:
- ALL Vacation Rental Properties in Palm Springs have a limited amount of citations they may receive before their rental permit is revoked. The rental permit stays with the property, not the owner. A property may receive up to 3 citations within 2 years, any more citations result in the rental permit being revoked for 2 years.
Ordinance Calls Procedures:
- Ordinance calls must be performed daily. A folder in the shared drive titled Ordinance Call Log will contain a spreadsheet for the week and updated daily, the sheet will be categorized by the week. The guest needs to be called within 24 hours of arrival.
- The spreadsheet will have
- Property Name
- Reservation Name
- Guest Name
- Reservation Dates
- Reservation Type
- Property Agent
- Call Outcome
- Notes
- Go down the list of today’s arrivals, and contact each guest using the call script below.
- Add your name in the Property Agent drop-down
- Choose from the drop-down section in Call Outcome, if you were able to connect with the guest mark it as complete, if not leave a voicemail. Owners do NOT need to be contacted as the VCRO does not apply to them.
* Helpful tip: if you hover over the Reservation Number it will take you directly to the guest reservation to find their contact information.

ACME: Hello guest name, this is ___ with ACME house company. I am calling to check in with you and ensure your arrival to Palm Springs went well, as well as provide some important information about the Palm Springs Vacation Rental City Ordinance.

ACME: Great! As you may or may not be aware Palm Springs has 5 very specific regulations in place to maintain a pleasant environment for both residents and guests. The rules are:
- No amplified noise is to be heard outside/ passed the property lines. (TV, cell phone, radio, etc) are not allowed outside at any time. Any type of SOUND from any sound-producing device is not allowed outside of your Vacation Rental unit. This includes music coming from the inside of the home that can be heard outside. If your neighbors can hear the noise, you are in violation of the City Ordinance.
- Quiet hours are 10pm-10am. If you choose to be outside, please be considerate of the neighbors and use low voices.
- Only ONE vehicle per bedroom is allowed at any given time.
- No trash to the public view. The vacation rental is set up with walk-up service.
- No over occupancy, only 2 guests per bedroom + 2 children 12 years or younger. The city allows you to invite 50% more guests over during daytime hours. 10am-10pm. For example, if a property sleeps 8 guests, you can invite 4 more guests making it a total of 12 guests during day hours. This does not mean you can have more cars.
